I.       CFO Report – VP Howard Todo

 

Recap of the Legislative session

 

·       UH Operating Budget

 

§       UH Supplemental campuses requests: $50 million

cut down by the Board of Regents to: $30 million

cut down by the Governor to: $7 million

forwarded to Legislature –House version: $2.5 million

    Senate version: $3 million

Hopeful to receive more CIP monies: UH request $350

million

Legislature considering possible $150 - $200 million

 

·       Procurement – Exempts BOR from Hawai‘i public procurement code requirements. UH did not get back the procurement exemption but will continue to resubmit it to the next Legislative session.

·       Pre-audit –Limits the UH's duty to pre-audit all proposed payments to those that amount to $10,000 or more.

(Act 37)

 

·       Commercial Enterprise –authorizes the transfer of all university funds, except general funds, into the University of Hawai‘i Commercial Enterprises.

(To the Governor)

 

·       Cancer Research Center –Increases the sources of revenue available to support the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i. Allows money in cancer research special fund to be used for capital expenditures.

·       Aloha Stadium –Creates the UH stadium corporation and transfers jurisdiction over the Aloha Stadium to the corporation.

(Not passed)

 

          Glenn Okimoto is the new UH Budget Office director.

 

·       One of UH Budget Office's responsibility is to keep track of position count.  Historically, reorganizations have been handled by the Budget Office although the extent of role was not clearly defined. Glenn is undertaking the challenge of clarifying the role of the UH Budget Office.

IV.  Workplace Harassment - Mie Watanabe, UH EEO/AA Office

 

The EEO/AA Office offers an interactive web-based course for all faculty, students and staff of the UH System. The self-paced program takes about 60 minutes to complete and provides a convenient opportunity to learn about sexual harassment and how to prevent it.
