I.                 CFO Items – Howard Todo

 

      VP Todo toured the new state-of-the-art facility, Frear Hall which has an estimated cost of $71 million and will open this Fall to more than 800 UHM undergraduates.

 

      VP Todo informed the group that the Board of Regents will meet on August 22nd for the UH Budget for the Fiscal Biennia.  The Biennium Budget Development Strategy’s priority is Repair, Renewal, and Replacement.

 

      The revised Departmental Checking System (DCS) Administrative Procedures Memorandum for A8.844, A8.846 and A8.848 is signed.  The revisions will allow departments to preaudit and make DCS payments in ePurchasing up to $1,000.

 

 

 

II.               “Credit-Crunched Hawai’i" – Paul Brewbaker, Ph. D., Senior Vice President & Chief Economist, Bank of Hawai’i

 

Mr. Brewbaker indicated that you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader and should type [CTRL]+L to view the attachment as a slideshow.  He added one slide illustrating the point he made about government construction spending in Hawaii being less today than it was four decades ago, as well as some additional material (including things we didn’t cover) related to housing and the credit crunch arising from the sub-prime mortgage lending crisis.
