    LOAN REPAYMENT

    Question : I received several different types of student loans from the University of Hawaii. Can I assume that my loans are being handled by the same billing agency?

    Answer : No. The University of Hawaii does not use the same billing agency for all of its loan programs. is the billing agency for the University's campus-based loans. If you received other loans, you must contact agencies handling those loans.

    Question : I have not received a bill for my student loan. What should I do?

    Answer : Contact or the General Accounting & Loan Collection Office to find out why you are not receiving your bills. Be advised that you are still responsible for paying your loan even if you did not receive the bills.

    Question :I am unable to make the scheduled loan payments. What should I do?

    Answer : Contact or the General Accounting & Loan Collection Office for alternate repayment arrangements. You may be eligible for a loan deferment or forbearance. Be advised that the General Accounting Office will not be able to help you once your loan is assigned to a collection agency.

    Question : I've been paying on my student loans but I am still receiving past due notices. What should I do?

    Answer : Contact or the General Accounting & Loan Collection Office to determine why your loan is past due. If you remitted a payment late, you may have been assessed a late fee which made your loan past due. Or you may have other loans that are being serviced by different billing agencies. If you overlooked one of your loans, you will receive past due notices until that loan is brought current.

    Question : Should I send my loan payment to or the General Accounting & Loan Collection Office?

    Answer : Send your payment to . Make your check payable to the University of Hawaii and write your loan number (or social security number) on your check. For payment information, you may to go to the web site at http://www.mycampusloan.com.



    LOAN DEFERMENT

    Question : If I return to school at least half-time, do I need to file a form to defer my loan payments?

    Answer : Yes. You must file a student deferment form at the beginning of each semester that you are enrolled at least half-time. Be advised that you may lose your right to deferment benefits if you fail to file your form on time.

    Question : If I transfer from one UH campus to another, are my loan payments automatically deferred?

    Answer : No. Your loan payments are not automatically deferred when you transfer from one UH campus to another. You must file a student deferment form to defer your loan payments.

    Question : I mailed a deferment form to several months ago. Can I assume that my loan was deferred?

    Answer : You should have received a statement indicating that your deferment was processed. Contact to find out the status of your deferment. It's possible that did not receive your deferment form.

    Question : Can I defer my defaulted student loan?

    Answer : You should contact the General Accounting & Loan Collection Office to determine if you are eligible for a loan deferment or alternate repayment arrangements. Keep in mind that you may lose your right to deferment benefits if your defaulted loan is accelerated.



    LOAN CONSOLIDATION

    Question : I am thinking of consolidating my student loans. Can I assume that all of my loans will qualify for loan consolidation?

    Answer : Not all loans are eligible for loan consolidation. You will need to contact the consolidation agency to find out which loans are eligible for loan consolidation. Be advised that State Higher Education loans are not eligible for loan consolidation.
